Damian Cloud was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, home to the Carolina Panthers and the Charlotte Hornets—two sports teams he spends much of his time loving and hating. 

He hasn’t always been a fan of literature. Prior to age 12, his preferred reading material consisted of Peanuts, Garfield and other comic strips. When he was forced by his sixth-grade teacher to read Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson, he began to appreciate the complex emotions, the relatability, the danger, the fear, the heartbreak, and the triumphant spirit literature rewards its readers.  

Due to his introverted nature, being a writer was always his first career choice. Inspired by both books and movies, he wrote short stories and screenplays in junior high and high school centering around young adults in complex situations. 

He received his bachelor’s degree in English with an emphasis on literature and creative writing at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte. During his term, he stumbled upon Along Came a Spider by James Patterson, and his life was changed forever. (There must be something about the name, Patterson, or Paterson, that inspires Damian to write.) It was the first book of its kind he read with such an outrageous plot twist and an unpredictable villain his young mind never knew existed in a book. When he finished it, he was motivated to begin writing the story he had been thinking about for a long time, with intentions of wowing readers at the same high level at which Along Came a Spider wowed him. After many, many years of plotting, crafting, and editing, his first novel, A Small Victory, was complete. It was self-published as an ebook in 2013. His second novel, Plastic Untouchables, was self-published a year later. 

When Damian is not writing a new book, he is writing for his blog, Black Male Introvert, where he shares his opinions of the world as seen through the eyes of a Black introvert. And when not writing anything, he is living a normal life while dreaming of A Small Victory becoming a motion picture and Plastic Untouchables becoming a television miniseries.
